With Love,
From Me To You

For my final project for WRI 220, I chose to write a compilation of letters to my dad each set to a different Beatles song.

Here's what you need to know:

My dad and I are incredibly close. In fact, my entire family is really close. I have two older siblings: Jonathan and Jenna. Each are married to spouses I love and each have amazing daughters, which makes me Aunt Jess! My mom and dad are two of my favorite people on the planet and I have them (and my crazy wonderful grandma Starr) to thank for everything I am and everything I have.

This Project was inspired by an Opinion column I wrote last year for The Michigan Daily, my school's newspaper. The column was titled "The Beatles are Forever" and paid homage to the Fab Four and in doing so, demonstrated my sincere appreciation for my dad's endless music history lessons across the years.

The past two years have been arguably trying for many of us. As a college student amidst an unprecedented global pandemic, I have leaned on music in a way I never have before. I believe this played a large role in why this project seemed to be the perfect response to the cataclysmic call of the times.

In attempting to unpack and confront lots of confusing anxiety and stress, I decided to write a series of letters to man who has taught me more things than there are words to explain and in doing so, rediscover the ever-changing role of The Beatles in my life.

Thank you, dad!
